Jean McGee, MD, PhD, MS
Associate Professor of Dermatology, Harvard Medical School
Director of Microbiome Research, BWH Department of Dermatology
Dr. McGee is a clinical expert in inflammatory skin diseases and a physician scientist in the field of multi-omics, dedicated to discovering novel biomarkers to improve the way we diagnose, prevent, and treat skin diseases. Her laboratory is interested in understanding the role of the microbiome and epigenetics in a wide range of human pathology including immune dysregulation, accelerated biological aging, increased systemic disease burden, and disruption of the gut-skin axis. Her scholarly contribution has already significantly expanded our understanding of how chronic skin inflammation affects the overall systemic disease burden. Currently, her research is funded by an NIH/NIAMS K23 Award and a Research Scholar Award by American Acne & Rosacea Society. In the past, she was awarded a Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Stern Grant, a Visiting Scholar Award from the Human Skin Disease Resource Center at BWH, a La Roche-Posay Research Grant, and a Women’s Dermatologic Society Academic Research Award.
